There should really be no reason for the Dow to go way up today. Especially after the jobs reports and several other economic news reports. The Dow has had many three digit gain days in the past three months (mixed in with days that are not so good). I can't figure this out. I just can't. there is no logical reason for the Dow to have great days like this. Is the government buying billions in stock and flooding the maket and artificially propping it up? What's going on here? All I see in my area of Florida is economic despair. But then I turn on the TV and see over a 200 point gain day for the Dow. What gives?

FYI

The largest one day gain (aside from the one recently set in 2008) for the stock market was during the Great Depression.

Too many people focus on numbers instead of stability. High or low is ok... long-term investors prefer it not to fluctuate wildly.

unemployment is a lagging indicator, the dow is a leading indicator. the dow is not effected by what happened six months ago, it is a reflection of what will happen in six months!!!

DOW is stupid. it fluctuates all the time. gaining 200 points means nothing
