So far my husband and I have managed. Now things are getting even tighter. He was unemployed for about a month. Now he is working, but the wages aren't great. My job has cut hours. I know I should be thankful that I still have a job and that we were only cut eight hours a pay period. But it is stressful. How is everyone else doing with their bills, mortgage, etc? Also, can I get my school loan to delay payments in times like this. Help, advice, anything.

My husband and I were laid off within a week of each other. The good news is our kids are grown. We have savings and unemployment. We do not go anywhere or do anything that costs money. We are both professionals with college degrees. This situation is bad for everyone and will get worse long before it gets better. I feel so sorry for couples with small children. How will they keep their home and feed their kids? Oh, and medical care? Who can afford it????

Yes times are getting very hard.Luckily since I am a SAHM and I run a home daycare I am not really effected by it yet. I am a single mother. Yes it is very hard. I babysit all day long and luckily all my baby sitting parents stilll have jobs so I still have a job. I am raising a 3 and 2 year old on my own. Times get so scary but i pray to GOD all the time to help us get through everything and so far I am fine. Thank the Lord! Good luck to you and to everyone and we will all get through this rough time!

I've been looking for job everyday for 14 months now. I don't know what I am going to do when my small unemployment runs out.

*Hi gagam, I too do absolutely nothing. Can't even afford to rent a video or get ice cream. I have a 15 year old to feed, but don't qualify for food stamps. I had a savings, but it is gone of course. It is scary.

Me and my father lost our jobs and my cousin and her son have moved in with us. We are barely making even and my dad's retirement is running out of funds. I would say live with or stay close to family. Look for real deals when you find them. I would say save change and cut back on things not essential like eating out all the time, going to the movies, pop, and etc. I wish you and your husband the best of luck. Oh and God Bless!

You know what people do during these times?? They start to count their blessings. They realize what they truly need and make things work. Communities pull together and help one another. Those who are fortunate helps those in need realizing that very easily they could have been just as unfortunate as their neighbor. We will all get through it and we will learn from our past. We will learn to buy housing within our means. We will learn to expect honesty and transparency in our banking systems. We will learn how to reduce our costs. And hopefully, we will learn to remember these lessons once things do get better.
